How to get Code 95

The whole path in brief

Getting Code 95 comes down to four parts: choose the programme, gather the documents, complete the training, pass the test. After the test the training centre handles the paperwork itself — there is nowhere else you need to go.

The longest part is the training, and that is what sets the overall timeline. The periodic programme is 35 hours, the reduced initial one 140, the full initial one 280. In days, that is roughly five, eighteen and thirty-five.

1. We identify the programme. You send a photo of your licence. We check the category and the date it was opened and name the course you need. This is the most important step: a mistake here costs weeks.
2. You gather the documents. An application, copies of your licence, passport, taxpayer card and international passport. We accept copies by messenger.
3. Enrolment in a group. We check the set of documents and enrol you in the nearest intake, then tell you the start date.
4. Training. Classes are in person, in Kyiv. The Procedure allows no more than 12 hours of the whole course to be taken remotely.
5. Final test. The result is recorded in the examination boardʼs protocol. This is the only lawful basis for issuing the documents.
6. Receiving the documents. The CPC certificate and the qualification card are issued together, no later than 5 working days from the date you pass.

How long it takes

The question "how long does Code 95 take" really splits into two: how long the training lasts and how long the paperwork takes. People often confuse them, and the difference is fundamental.

So the paperwork is a matter of days. What you need to plan around is the training, not the admin. The most common driverʼs mistake is starting a week before a run when a five-week initial course is required.

Which documents you need

The set is the same for every Code 95 programme. Copies can be sent by Viber, WhatsApp or Telegram, and there is no need to come in advance.

• Taxpayer card
• International passport — needed so that the surname on the card is transliterated the same way it is there

What you end up with

Two documents at once. The CPC — the certificate confirming professional competence — and the driver qualification card, a bank-card-sized plastic card you carry with you. Both are valid for five years.

The training centre enters their details into the state information system. That is exactly why it matters where you train: if there is no record in the system, the document effectively does not exist either. There is more about the card on the driver qualification card page.

When the document has to be renewed

After five years. Renewal only takes the five-day periodic course — there is no need to go back to the initial programme, even after a long break.

It makes sense to start a month to six weeks before the term ends: that way you are not at the mercy of when the next group fills, and you are never left a single day without a valid document.

Before you enrol — one phone call

Sometimes no training is needed at all. Clause 27 of the Procedure lets a driver who holds a valid CPC for categories C1 or С obtain a certificate for C1E or СЕ without taking a course. The same applies to passenger categories. Checking this takes a minute on the phone, and the saving is weeks.
